Publisher Description
These simple stories are centuries-old. But read and discover how, interestingly, they remain relevant even today!
Told with quaint humour, we are left to ponder how many things in life appear deceivingly simple.
Considered the oldest collection of folklore, records of Jataka tales existed as early as the 3 B.C. Similar tales also appeared in many other languages and the Greek versions were made famous by Aesop's Fables.
The Buddha used these short stories to convey moral teachings and deep truths. These parables were then retold and passed down verbally for centuries. Later they were written down in organised, systematic text. More than 500 Jatakas were recorded.
Here are 7 brief, easy-to-read tales, retold and adapted for this app book:
1. The Foolish Friend
2. The Ass in the Lion’s Skin
3. The Peacock’s Wooing
4. The Boar and the Lion
5. The Beetle and the Elephant
6. Mistress Vedehika +
7. The Tortoise and the Geese
Hope you enjoy reading this simple book.
And, may you find peace and enlightenment!
